The historic port of Lagos, with its modern marina, is one of the Algarve’s most lively interesting and picturesque towns and is just seven kilometres from Reserva da Luz.

It boasts everything the resident or tourist needs – good shopping, supermarkets, a fresh food and vegetable market, fine restaurants serving fresh regional cuisine, numerous bars and nightspots, and splendid sandy beaches and coves. There is a regular rail and coach service from Lagos to the capital city of Lisbon.

Steeped in history, Lagos was once the base for the famous explorer Prince Henry the Navigator and a statue of the prince is located in a square overlooking the marina and the sea.

The town has an excellent museum annexed to the Chapel of St Anthony where you will see a magnificent altar in gilt carved wood enhanced by walls covered in 18th century blue and white tiles.

Lagos also has a fine cultural centre where art exhibitions, musical concerts, theatre productions and other events are staged.
